For this purpose, contact is being made with district committee leaders across the country. The leaders concerned say that initiatives have been taken to present the top leaders of the parties formed after breaking away from the Jatiya Party at the conference.
Preparations are underway to hold the conference in front of the party’s central office in Kakrail in the capital. However, the administration’s permission for the conference has not yet been received.
Tensions mount over Jatiya Party conference, GM Quader won’t compromise
There has already been a division among Jatiya Party leaders, workers and supporters across the country over this conference. There has also been anxiety among the leaders and workers about what is going to happen to the party’s leadership.
A responsible leader associated with organizing the conference told Prothom Alo on Thursday night that they are trying their best to make the conference a success. They hope that the administration’s permission will be received by next Sunday. Then the context surrounding the conference will change. However, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader told Prothom Alo that he is not giving importance to this activity. He will not compromise with the leaders who have become opponents in any way.
Jatiya Party leaders concerned say that the main goal of the party’s 10th national conference this time is to amend Article 20 (a) of the party constitution. Through this, it will be possible to establish a joint leadership instead of the existing ‘single’ and ‘authoritarian’ leadership in the Jatiya Party.
Two senior Jatiya Party leaders Anisul Islam Mahmud and ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader are the initiators of this conference. They are accompanied by a large part of the party’s former and current senior leaders, as well as leaders from various districts. Leaders concerned with organizing the conference said that they are getting a good response to this.
On the other hand, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader has postponed the June 28 conference. The reason is that the hall allocation for the auditorium of the China-Maitree Conference Center has been canceled.
